PINK HAIR!

WHhAAaaatttTTTT????

I know, right?

Pink hair is fun is fun to do :) I've kind of always wanted to try it out. It's a bit chunky at the roots---definitely not professional-looking. And boy, my fingers were seriously pink for all of yesterday!

Goodbye, little Mo

I don't want this to be a sad post. But poor little Mocha (Mo) has passed away.

He got sick earlier in the week...not really eating and just looking bad all over. Then he progressively got worse and worse, almost have little seizures or something. It all happened so fast, and there really wasn't much to be done.  Poor little guy.

Caesar (in yellow) was his big bossy momma and misses him terribly I fear. She keeps looking around for him in all their usual hangouts.

I suppose that for all the company and laughter pets provide us with, there is the one downside that we have to deal with.

And special thanks to my special boy who helped me dig a hole to bury him with a large kitchen spoon.

On a brighter note! Check out the new pinafore I bought!!!

And the lady who made it is the featured seller on Etsy RIGHT NOW!! FUN. I love her!!! I imagine that we are best friends in Etsy world. :)  Here is the link to her SHOP.

I wore it on my walk downtown to the post office this morning, though it was about 50 degrees----just willing it to be warmer outside!! (Didn't work.) But I got a coffee on the way back in to warm my hands :)

Have a great weekend everyone!! :D

A few of my favorite things

Isn't it strange how certain possessions hold such importance and meaning? These are a few of my such "things."

I was thinking the other day about what I would save from a fire. The list got WAY too long. Maybe I am too attached to things?

Here are some from the very top (In no particular order because I am borderline blog-illiterate.) :)

Poncho of my mom's that she wore!

Sammy. My one true love.

Letters from my sister, Amanda. She is in Seattle and I only see her once or twice a year.

Box of my Nana's crafting supplies.

Harry Potter books. (Notice Goblet of Fire is missing? Rich is reading them all :)

Letter from my college poetry professor on our yearly publication. He writes "Emily, with terrific admiration for a real one."

yawn....

Did you all survive Daylight Savings? I got up real early this whole weekend...seemed to help a bit.

Now, my normal late hours/sleeping in is going to feel even worse though!

Here is a fun recipe called Sausage and Egg Casserole that I made for brunchy goodness :)

(From Allrecipes.com--my favorite cooking site!)

INGREDIENTS:
1 pound bulk pork sausage
6 eggs
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground mustard
6 slices white bread, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

DIRECTIONS:
1. In a skillet, brown and crumble sausage; drain and set aside. In a large bowl, beat eggs; add milk, salt and mustard. Stir in bread cubes, cheese and sausage. Pour into a greased 11-in. x 7-in. x 2-in. baking dish. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight. Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.

country roads, take me home

Last night I took the semi-monthly journey into West Virginia to visit my parents!

I did laundry, finished my taxes, had hamburgers for lunch AND washed my car :) Very productive, eh?

AND I made a little picture safari for the blog. Enjoy...

Here is one of the bridges, crossing the Shenandoah River.

Here is Lucy, my parents' dog, and I, snuggling in the morning! :D (we are best friends).

Here are some skeletons of Queen Anne's Lace in their backyard. I think I might try selling a print of this on etsy. hmm.... It's a cool shot.

Tonight, Amanda W. is coming over for crafting, movies and a cooking adventure. She made some mention of High School Musical. Should I be scared? We definitely watch our share of cheesy movies, but this could be too much. I don't know. I won't judge just yet :)

Spring!

Oh me oh my.

Today was in the 60-degree range. Ah. While I was standing outside my workplace, staring at the heavy metal door, I stopped to take 3 really deep breaths of the warm air.

......nice.............

SO--in celebration, I bought this new skirt from allencompanyinc:

And, I made some little mini clips :) (flowers, like spring, get it!!)

Hope you all have a lovely weekend! I will be cooped up at work on Saturday, then finishing up my taxes at mom and dad's on Sunday. But maybe we will have lunch out on the deck or something.. yay for good weather.

Isn't it crazy how it can make your day so much better?

The Duchess and Me

Que up those Netflix's ladies!! This one's a winner. It's slightly predictable, a little slow, but MY GOODNESS! The costumes are FABULOUS!! Every scene seems to be centered around them.

Also, there's a fairly good love story, and some top actors ... A worthwhile flick :)

The lead character, Georgiana (called "Gee") is the newly married Duchess of Devonshire. The guy turns out to be a total cold fish/controlling/jerk. And chaos insues!! There is meant to be a comparison between the Duchess and Princess Diana (of whom she is supposed to be distantly related.)

Whatever, I don't think Prince Charles looks like that bad of a character.

On a related note: Rich and I are starting to seriously plan out a trip to England this summer. GASP.

I am SOO nervous, but I excited, and I know I have to do it now, because who knows if I'll ever have the opportunity again?

We are thinking we will be centered in London, and just take a few day trips to some cool cities/ castles/ etc....plus spend a lot of time doing all the touristy stuff in London.

Any suggestions are welcome :)
