Random show and tell!

(You know how I like to make lists...)

My favorite song:

My favorite piece of art:

(Frida Kahlo: The Two Fridas)

My favorite movie:

(Gone With The Wind)

My favorite smell:

(crisp fall air.)

My favorite poem:

A Clear Midnight- Walt Whitman

THIS is thy hour O Soul, thy free flight into the wordless,
Away from books, away from art, the day erased, the lesson done,
Thee fully forth emerging, silent, gazing, pondering the themes thou
lovest best.
Night, sleep, death and the stars.

My favorite book:

(Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.)

Couldn't think of any more categories ... I'll probably think of lots when I'm driving or in the shower...maybe I will add them in :) hehe

Vixen Vintage!

"Do not just put your hat on. Wear it with an air.
Wear it with dignity, or with amusement or allure.
But do not, I beg of you, merely wear it!"

I don't know if I've gushed about Solanah of Vixen Vintage before ... but Oh My! I wish I was her! She has an amazing wardrobe of vintage clothes... and wears them everyday! What an inspiration. I don't think I could do it. I would so slip up on a random Wednesday and wear sweatpants.

Anyway, LOOK HERE! She has featured me on her blog (which is seriously amazing.) She updates it everyday with her outfit that she wore for that day! How fun :)

A blog about nothing

(the queen mum rocks a crown...)

Hey all! Sorry it's been so long since my last post! I've just had NO energy lately. Like, I've even taken to napping during the afternoon before I go to work! Also, (this is bad) I've started buying stupid starbucks coffee almost every day! (Isn't that so dirty...)

This is bad for two reasons:

1.) It's a waste of money
2.) It is so fattening and the skim/sugar-free/no-whip drinks taste like glue!

Anyway, I am making myself blog, because it always makes me feel better when I do :)

So, let's see .... nothing really exciting has happened recently. The boy and I stayed in last weekend. We cooked salmon on the grill and made a salad using vegetables from the garden we planted together!! It was cute, trust me. :)

I've discovered that I can record little mini videos on my computer, which is exciting!!

I plan on making a:

"how to wear a comb" video
"how I fix my hair like that" video (because a fair few people have asked! Oddly enough)
"welcome to my studio" video

Should be kind of goofy, but, whatever. People like goofy.

Wish I had some cool photos to post, but i never think to take the camera anywhere. i think I need a little "pocket-sized" one.

Well, my birthday is coming up, so trust that I will have TONS of photos and stories then :)

Let merriment abound!!!

We all need something to look forward to.

My problem is that I usually choose to look forward (dread) something negative coming up in my future.

BUT, I'm trying to remedy that.

So, here is a happy thing that I will be looking forward to: The Maryland Renaissance Festival!!

I first went to the RenFest when I was in junior high (or high school?) I was part of the history club for a semester and this was one of the trips we went on. (Yeah, I was THAT cool.)

But ... it was SO COOL. I've been going or trying to go as much as possible ever since.

Didn't go last year due to certain relationship and living situation upheavals.

BUT in a few weeks, Rich and I are going as a part of my 28th birthday celebrations!! He's never been, but my descriptions of "Steak on a Stake" and "Knave Sandwiches" and "Chocolate-Covered Cheesecakes" seem to have him willing to go.

This year will be different. This year will be happy!

Here I am 2 (or 3?) years ago watching some jousting with 1 beer and 2 turkey legs!! haha :)

Jumping the gun

I know, I know.... there's still like 3 months 'til Christmas, but I can't contain my excitement for holiday hair accessories!!

Here is the first one: Holly and Ivy

It may be too soon, but I like to dream ..

Here is the song it was inspired by (it's one of those cheesy YouTube songs...)

Coming full circle

Super secret for you::::
Sometimes, custom orders stress me out.
I mean, really! It's such a huge pressure to create something that someone will wear for an important day (most especially if that day is their wedding day!)
Usually, the customer has an image in their mind of what they're after, and my job is to get as close to that image as possible! I admit, I do love the challenge, but sometimes it is quite a difficult undertaking! This is why I am taking a break from custom work right now.
I think it was starting to drain my creative "mojo," you know?

But, rest assured, I plan on getting back on the 'ole custom order wagon later this fall.
(Like a month or so I think.)
======

Here is the upside of custom work though!! This was a great experience with Etsian, tschuess. Here she is with her FABULOUS hair and my bright little comb :) How cheery!

This is the best when an order can come FULL CIRCLE. From that initial contact, to a shared idea, to a product, then a photo of it in action!!

It makes me smile :)

Crafty brides!

This lovely Etsian, marisam28, bought a crown a while back, and turns out, she is a crafty gal!!

I can't take all the credit for this one, because she altered and made it totally better! I will think of it as a super-great collaboration :)

All images from Cameron Ingalls, Inc. photography. Here is the website ... really gorgeous!

Another post about shoes

Well, actually, boots!

This is odd for me because usually I am a purse-girl. Other girls have 100 pairs of shoes...I have 100 purses. (Not really that many--but a lot). And what's WEIRD about it is that I still just pick a favorite and wear that one for months before I switch out.

Anyway, I digress.

This now makes my second pair of new shoes for fall! I decided I needed some boots. Last year I bought a REALLY pricey pair of Frye boots, but they didn't fit right--so I returned them (good move.)

This year, I found these fairly cheapo boots in Victoria's Secret catalog!! (I recently discovered that they sell shoes and clothes. HA!)

I am pretty new to the whole boot scene, but these definitely will require some breaking in.

They are made for walking :) hah ha HA!
